Preparing to begin construction

Construction preparation is a crucial step in ensuring that the project proceeds smoothly and efficiently. During this step your assigned project manager completes several key tasks to set the stage for successful construction:

  • Before starting construction, we conduct a thorough survey to identify and assess any hazardous substances on the site, as required by Ontario regulations. This step ensures that we address any potential safety issues and comply with environmental regulations.

  • It’s essential to know the exact location of underground utilities, such as water, gas, and electricity lines, to prevent accidental damage during excavation and construction.

  • If the site requires protection of trees, we implement measures to safeguard them during construction according to regulations. This involves installing barriers and following guidelines to prevent damage to the root systems and overall health of the trees.

  • We coordinate various logistical elements to ensure the construction site is properly equipped. This includes setting up portable toilets, fencing, site protection, parking arrangements, and obtaining dumpster permits. Proper site management helps maintain order and minimizes disruptions.

  • Effective communication with subcontractors is key to a successful project. We work closely with them to establish a detailed schedule, ensuring that all trades are aligned and that their work proceeds in a coordinated and timely manner.

By thoroughly preparing for construction, we lay a solid foundation for a smooth building process, reducing potential delays and complications.
